BBC World News: President Macron and French Muslims

France’s Muslim Council is due to meet President Emmanuel Macron this week, after it was asked by the President to come up with a ‘charter of Republican values’ for imams in the country to sign. The Council has reportedly been asked to include several declarations in the text, including recognition of France’s Republican values, rejection of Islam as a political movement, and a ban on foreign influence. BBC World News' Samantha Simmonds spoke to the journalist and academic Myriam Francois about President Macron's policies towards French Muslims.
